you'll need is a white paper and some ink, i used black ink as i already
had a small bottle with i use for work. Better would be to use some
lighter ink, blue or already red as you'll get more tone variations out
of there.
Hold the paper almost vertically, let a single ink drop hang down infront of the paper. With a short and sharp blow (as when spitting) directed to the drop you'll get the same effect i had. you can play with the distance and type of blow to get different effects. After scanning them, play with the levels in PS until you get the best shades possible out of the splats, if you used a brighter ink you'll have it easier here. |

lay with the blend of
the layer until you get rid of the white backround, duplicate the layer,
merge both together and reset the blend to 255 again. You can use a mask, expand by 1 on the backround and erase the borders of the blood splats to get rid of any remaining whiter pixels. To colore the blood red use the hue in 'hue/saturation', dont use a mask and filling or you'll loose the few tone variations the ink has. |

ostly,
you'll use the blood on old paper i'd say.For this purpose i usually desature the splats by 40-70 depending if i want old or fresh looking splats and set them on color burn with 65-75% transparency. The look will be almost perfect. I didn't it in the example here but you might want to blurr the borders of the splats a BIT depending of the backround, most papers will absorb the blood and you'll have blurred edges as a result. Be careful as in digital media it might just give the impression that the image is blurred. |

f you want some
glossier bloodsplats (which i wouldn't use on paper or realistic looking
work in general) use some inner bevel effect, adds also a lot if you
overlay several (2-3) different blood splats over eachother.
That's it! |
