Everyday is a gift, thats why they call it the present. |
inally got around to doing the hair for the Winged victory statue. Rather than using SubD as with the rest of the piece I thought I'd try modo 5's new Catmull Clark sculpting, and it actually works well enough for what it is, who knew!.
Next, I'll texture the statue in one fashion or another, still undecided... and then I'll go back to the Sci-Fi buildings.

n a different note, I have been going through a lot of photography over the past few months, uploading it to Flickr and printing out some large prints (up to 36'') for home.

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure. |
een working on a SciFi city on and off. So far some buidings are completed and a lot more still need to be done.
I've started
texturing to take a bit of a break from modeling, there's only a few materials so far but they help to give an idea of where things are going...
Some screenshots, before texturing and then with some texturing at the bottom:

Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils. |
've managed to frabricate time and started doing freetime projects again. Yes, I'm as surprised as you are that I am surprised.
I have done texturing and I have done sculpting in modo, but never went and textured a sculpted hipoly, as usually I just need the hipoly to bake down information. So the first little project was an old stone bridge sculpted and textured in hipoly only... With the test being a success, I'll probably move on to more exciting and complex stuff.
Also, A strong motivator for the freetime projects was the discovery of Vue, which lets you do amazing outdoor scenes and compositions.

The sculpted displacement in modo:

Next I'll update with the latest project which is already being worked on by me, myself, and I!
coming 'soon'.

I don't feel old. I don't feel anything until noon. Then it's time for my nap. |
'm a year older again and can already feel the wisdom prickling in through my skin...
I must say that I did learn some interesting things this year. That said, I've learned more than I'm really aware of, but I'm not sure yet what it is. Some things seem to be spinning there in my pheriphery waiting to be catalogized and labeled.
Updated some minor things, started adding the textures back to the website, some of them are downloadable again already. I'll be finishing the rest soon, hopefully.
If anything's wonky, it will get fixed within the next days, some things seemed to be appearing on the wrong spots... how odd, if hardly surprising.

No man needs a vacation so much as the person who has just had one.

The rest of the redesign and content will have to wait a few weeks.

He's doing it again... |
've broken the website!!
It's going through another, more extensive redesign...
So far the '3D Art' section is the only one that works correctly (or should anyway) while the other pages will all be missing the right side menu for now, not allowing access to the sub categories. That means that a lot of content is in Nirvana right now.
It should all come back gradually over the next few days.

If all the world's a stage, I want to operate the trap door. |
urprise... after almost a year!
Website redesign is almost complete, more final content tomorrow with info on the changes..
Currently some links might be broken or pointing in the wrong direction, so to speak.
The main changes as you might notice, is not new art, but rather more old art that is all downloadable. Models and textures can be downloaded now and used for any freeware projects.

ark Sector is done. Portfolio has been updated with some of the work I did for it. Lots of environment pieces, statues etc.
My photography on Flickr is updated regularly.
There's a thread over at Polycount with some of the Dark Sector work and bits of information. And there's a similar thread at CGTalk too with more bits of info and images.
Last but not least, some of it is featured in one of Luxology's modo videos, covering the last few minutes of the video, it shows how some of the texturing effects were done with modo.
Hmm what else is new, planning to go to spain this summer for vacations, has been a while since I was there for the last time, home sweet home and all that.
I've been feeling like writing some new tutorials, but we'll have to see whether that ultimately happens or not.
